Summer has finally arrived, and Quebec strawberries are now on the shelves in grocery stores and markets, to our great delight!
The season stretches from June to October, allowing us to enjoy them for several months and stock up for autumn and winter with compotes, frozen strawberries, jams, etc.
Did you know that the varieties tend to change depending on the time of year?
Indeed, some varieties are better suited to the cooler fall weather, which allows us to enjoy this little fruit for longer.
How to Properly Store Your Strawberries?
When purchasing, check the strawberries and set aside any that are damaged to avoid contaminating all the fruit. Clean the strawberries under cold water and dry them well with a clean cloth or paper towel.
Fresh strawberries will keep for 2-3 days in the refrigerator. For long-term storage up to 6 months, consider placing them in a freezer bag before storing them in the freezer.
