Eating green

The must-haves for a successful picnic

The sun is shining, the grass is freshly cut, and nature is calling—it's the perfect time for a picnic! Whether you're at the park, in the forest, or by the beach, nothing beats enjoying a good meal outdoors with great company. To make sure your outing is all pleasure (and not a hassle!), here’s a checklist of essentials you won’t want to forget.

The right basket… or cooler bag

Choose a traditional wicker basket for the aesthetics, or a modern insulated bag to keep your food cool for longer. The ideal? A compartmentalized container to avoid culinary disasters on the way!

Plenty to drink (really!)

Don’t forget to bring enough water, especially if it’s hot out. You can also prepare homemade drinks like lemonade, iced tea, or a refreshing cucumber and citrus-infused water.

Simple, fresh, and travel-friendly food

Opt for fresh, easy-to-eat items :

Quick tip : avoid dishes that are too creamy or that melt quickly in the sun!

Reusable utensils and tableware

Don’t forget to pack:

  • Reusable plates and utensils (bamboo or stainless steel)

  • Cloth napkins

  • Glasses or reusable bottles

  • A small multi-purpose knife

  • A bag for your trash (let’s leave nature just as beautiful as we found it!)

Hygiene and care essentials

Slip into your bag:

  • Hand sanitizer

  • Biodegradable wipes

  • Sunscreen

  • Insect repellent

  • A small first aid kit (band-aids, disinfectant, etc.)

A touch of comfort

For a relaxing experience:

  • A large blanket or tablecloth

  • A sun hat or parasol

  • A Bluetooth speaker (keep the volume moderate 😉)

  • A deck of cards or a board game

  • A good book or magazine

In short, a great picnic is all about simplicity, a bit of planning, and a whole lot of enjoyment. So pack your basket, invite your loved ones, and go savor the moment—one bite at a time!
