Nutritious lettuce varieties that grow in water

All our lettuce varieties are cultivated hydroponically. That means they are grown 100% in water. For healthy, incredibly nutrient-dense produce, we enrich the water with the same minerals they would get from soil.

Solo in a bag, solo, double, triple.

Packaging with a freshness purpose

To keep our vegetables fresher for longer, we use packaging from recyclable plastic. We encourage every one of our customers to recycle so your packaging can be given new life again and again.

Plastic extends the shelf life of our produce by creating a protective barrier that also conserves humidity (much like a greenhouse, in fact!) So we can cut back on food waste, here and in your home.

Tips

Keep your lettuce fresher, longer

  • Don’t cut off the roots.
  • Store in the original packaging in the refrigerator (ideally in the crisper section) at a temperature of 0°C to 4°C.
  • For crispier, crunchier leaves, wrap the roots only in a damp cloth or paper towel and store in the original packaging. Don’t let the leaves come into contact with the cloth.
  • If you wash your lettuce, wait until you are ready to serve, not before.
  • To prepare, tear leaves off by hand instead of oxidizing with scissors.
  • Recyclable packaging

To keep our vegetables fresher for longer, we use packaging that can be easily recycled over and over, helping to contribute to a circular economy. Plastic extends the shelf life of our produce by creating a protective barrier that also conserves humidity (much like a greenhouse, in fact!) So we can cut back on food waste, here and in your home.

  • Greenhouse grown

We grow incredibly fresh, nutrient-rich vegetables twelve months a year. Fresh vegetables grown in Quebec soil in the middle of winter? Now that’s refreshing! By rethinking how we can grow vegetables sustainably, even in our harsh climate, we can bring you fresh, flavourful, high-quality foods again and again, all year long and for many years to come.

  • Non GMO

Our goal above all else is to produce healthy, safe food. To us, producing vegetables without the use of GMOs is non-negotiable for a sustainable future. That’s why we only use seed varieties without GMOs. Vegetables grown in nature should be as natural as possible.

  • Family business

Our family business is homegrown too, and we believe in serving up wellbeing for our team members and our greater community. Those are our family values, passed down from generation to generation.

  • Locally grown

Our vegetables are all grown locally in one of our four greenhouses located in St-Jerome, Portneuf, Sainte-Clotilde and Ham-Nord, not far from city centres. The shorter the distance, the fresher your produce!

  • Q.  What is the shelf life of Boston lettuce?
    A.

Thanks to our root harvesting method and packaging designed for freshness, it can be stored for up to 10 days for rootless lettuce and 14 days or more for root lettuce. But you'll probably have eaten it long before that!

  • Q.  Are your lettuces packaged in recyclable plastic?
    A.

Yes, again and again. Our packaging is 100% recyclable, and we're always working to improve it so that it's as responsible as our culture.

  • Q.  How to store lettuce so that it stays fresh longer?
    A.

Leave it in its original packaging, as this is an extension of its living environment! Avoid cutting the root, as this helps prolong its freshness.

  • Q.  Whoa, my lettuce has a root attached! Is that normal?
    A.

Even better than normal! Leaving the root attached keeps the lettuce fresh for longer. When refrigerated, lettuce without the root stays fresh for about 10 days, but with the root left on, you can count on 14 days or longer of freshness. Of course, you'll probably want to eat your delicious lettuce long before then, but his process helps reduce food waste for merchants and people like you at home.

Simply leave the root attached without cutting into or around it. Find other great tips for living lettuces here.

  • Q.  Are they available all year round?
    A.

Thanks to greenhouse cultivation, our mini cucumbers are available 12 months a year.
